Neo Da Matrix
Neo Da Matrix

This dude is a movement. Not only has he been killing it for 10+ years (as far back as Cassidy “A.M to the P.M” / as recent as Jadakiss “Can’t Stop Me”), but he has worked with a range of artists most producers wish they could list (Rhianna, Fabolous, Juelz Santana, Styles P, Mario, etc.). He hasn’t taken a year off, and anyone who really knows the Hip Hop and Rap charts can tell you; Neo has been cashing in.

Before I even made beats I knew all the words to tracks that this dude did. I was lucky enough to spend many hours in the studio with Neo Da Matrix over this past summer. @NeoDaMatrix works daily out of Allure Studios, the same spot all my previous posts talked about, and I got to chop it up with him on a regular basis. He played me some wild shit that he was working on, and even gave me feedback on shit I had produced. He is in the studio working everyday like he’s never had a big record, and thats why so many people are hungry to work with him. This dude gave me more insight on producing and the music business (among other things, haha) then I’ll probably ever get again from a producer on his level, and I will always respect him for that.

[ First 2 Weeks ]

BerkleeI made it.
The first two weeks have been almost exactly how I expected them. I’ve met some of the most talented musicians in the world, the teachers are all incredible, and the classrooms / dorms are state of the art. Kids have been pretty cool, although obviously there is the occasional virtuoso asshole. After just my first few classes, I’m starting to see how little I really know about music. There is a wealth of knowledge I haven’t even been aware of, and it is easy to see how a whole school can be devoted to just music. I’m hoping to link up with some players soon, and get some of my tracks done live; should be crazy. The first month is really just getting acclimated, so I’ll post back when I’ve got a better feel.

Stay Tuned.

 Jay-Z – “All I Need

Almost every song on The Blueprint is a classic (not to mention #464 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Album’s of All Time), but “All I Need” has always been a favorite of mine.  The track was produced by Bink!, another amazing musician out of Virginia who is as relevant today as he was then (he has tracks on both Rick Ross’s new album and Meth and Red’s comeback album “Blackout 2“). Bump this in your car!

Classic.

Ke$ha

Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1987, Kesha Sebert is an American singer and songwriter who is about to making a killing. I heard plenty of good things about her during my internship, as she is signed to RCA / Jive, and after hearing some more music from her I’ve had a feel she will blow up. You might know her from the hook on Flo-Rida’s “Right Round“. She’s being produced by master-mind’s Dr. Luke and Max Martin (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Katy Perry, Mos Def, Pitbull, etc.) so you can almost guarantee a success. Keep a look out for Ke$ha in the near future.

[ In The Lab / How Fly ]

WHOA! Two nights ago I was at Allure Studios (where I get to work the majority of my time in the city), and I came out of the ‘B’ room only to see Curren$y in the lobby. THIS video is from the session that he had that night. Besides murdering some Don Cannon tracks, Curren$y went in with my dude Neo da Matrix on a BANGER! Curren$y has been back a few times since then, and both of these dudes are real cool around the studio. Aside from personality, the video shows how dope their music is, and that they are two artists to definitely look out for. Curren$y’s [How Fly ] drops this Sunday!

It’s a small world after all…

The last months have been crazy. I haven’t gotten on the blog as much as I should, but the life experience has been worth it. In today’s day n’ age, it is so much easier for me to use Twitter.com on my Blackberry than too put up a blog post; so here is a collection of “Twit Pic” ’s I have posted this summer. Going to these amazing studios, and networking with big industry names is invaluable my career right now (“Your network = your net-worth“), and I need to do whatever is necesscery to see these opportunities through. But all that aside,  I’ve been in the studio close to 5 nights a week lately, and the music I have on-deck is …. WOW!

Stay Tuned.

Vanguard by ReFx

Vanguard is one of the craziest new virtual analog synthesizers out today. I heard the plug-in at the studio for the first time a few weeks ago, and I was shocked by all the sounds. I just bought Vanguard with the 12 expansions packs for just $329 off the ReFx website, I feel like I’m stealing! Vangaurd’s interface is easy to figure out, and it works seamlessly with Logic Pro. Adding new sounds to my repertoire is a great way to keep inspired, and Vangaurd is the perfect product to do that with.

Sha Money XL’s
One Stop Shop Producers Conference

I need to go to the next one of these. This conference is full of resources and networking opportunities for rappers / producers, and the celebrity panel (2009’s panel included Just BlazePete Rock, Drumma Boy, Hi-Tek, Rza, etc.gives in depth insight, advice, and Q&A sessions; plus, the beat battle looks crazy!
Maybe next year…
